This morning (November 10), Duy Tan University held a ceremony to celebrate its 30th anniversary (November 11, 1994 – November 11, 2024) and to announce the Prime Minister’s decision to officially transform Duy Tan University into Duy Tan University System (Đại học Duy Tân).

In his speech, Minister Nguyễn Kim Sơn emphasized that, following the Party and Government's educational reform policy, in 1994, the Prime Minister signed the decision to establish Duy Tan University — one of the first five non-public universities in Vietnam in the new era.
Despite many challenges, Duy Tan University has grown steadily and has made significant contributions to workforce training for Da Nang City, the Central and Central Highlands regions, and the entire country.
The establishment and development of Duy Tan University have contributed to reshaping the public-private structure of Vietnam's higher education system, transforming the landscape of tertiary education. It has also created numerous jobs for scholars and educational opportunities for thousands of students, contributing meaningfully to educational reform and the supply of high-quality human resources for national development over the past 30 years.
The transition from Trường đại học Duy Tân (Duy Tan University) to Đại học Duy Tân (Duy Tan University System) reflects an organizational and governance model that signifies maturity and the internal need for new growth.
“I hope this change is not just about the name, but a transformation in depth — unlocking creativity, embracing modern and intelligent governance,” said the Minister.
“I hope the university will operate with a more scientific, advanced, and large-scale management system, aiming for a greater mission and broader vision for sustainable development.”
“The shift from a single-university model to a university system should generate new driving forces, unlock creativity, and create new energy for faster and stronger growth in the future.
The Government and the Ministry of Education and Training support this strategic model by facilitating all procedures necessary for the transformation,” Minister Nguyễn Kim Sơn affirmed.
A Journey Closely Tied to its Founder
Duy Tan University’s 30-year journey is inseparable from the life and career of Labor Hero and Distinguished Educator Lê Công Cơ, who laid its foundations and guided its early development.

Vice Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee and Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee, Mr. Lê Trung Chinh, acknowledged and praised the achievements of Duy Tan University over the past 30 years.
“As Duy Tan University enters its 30th year, Da Nang City is also focusing on implementing Resolution No. 136/2024/QH15 on organizing urban government and piloting special policies for development.
This is a vital direction for the city’s future socio-economic development.”
He emphasized that Da Nang considers the development of human resources, especially high-quality human resources, as a key factor in becoming an internationally recognized smart, modern, and eco-friendly city with a unique identity.
“This means that workforce training — particularly high-quality training, including by Duy Tan University — must be carefully prepared to meet the growing demands of the economy and society.”
“Specifically, the city encourages Duy Tan University and all higher and vocational education institutions in Da Nang to enhance scientific research, produce impactful and practical innovations, and pioneer new areas of development.
We hope you will continue to contribute to making Da Nang a livable, civilized, and modern city.
The city of Da Nang will always support and facilitate the strong growth of Duy Tan University and its contributions to the city’s development,” Mr. Lê Trung Chinh added.
