1. Disciplines of the era of globalization

International Relations is a specialization of Political Science, the study of diplomacy and global affairs between countries through the international system. This system includes countries, intergovernmental organizations (IGOs), non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and multinational corporations (MNCs). Not only encapsulated in the field of politics, International Relations also extends to disciplines such as economics, history, law, philosophy, geography, sociology, anthropology, psychology and cultural studies.

This discipline covers a wide range of essential global issues such as globalization and its impact on society and national sovereignty, environmental protection, nuclear energy development, nationalism, economic growth, terrorism, organized crime, etc  human security and human rights.

2. Training Programs at DTU

With more than 17 years of training experience and more than 11 graduate courses, the Department of International Relations at DTU has been constantly expanding and developing. Currently, the university is training both Master's (enrolled in 2 courses) and Doctoral (enrolled in 2 courses) majoring in International Relations.

The curriculum is designed to provide basic and in-depth knowledge of history, geography, economics, culture, politics, international law, etc. In particular, students are equipped with practical skills, highly adaptable to the modern and globalized working environment, in which foreign language skills are the top priority. In addition to practicing 4 English skills (Listening – Speaking – Reading – Writing), students can also learn a number of specialized subjects in English, helping to improve their international integration capacity.

Students also have the opportunity to participate in seminars, academic exchanges and share experiences with leading industry experts. At the same time, academic advisors always accompany and support closely, helping students maximize their personal capacity and effective career orientation.

3. Career skills and development orientation

To succeed in the field of International Relations, learners need to have a solid foundation in expertise, foreign languages and communication, negotiation, and building cooperative relationships at home and abroad. A passion for foreign languages, a spirit of curiosity, and the ability to think independently are prerequisites for those who choose this major.

The curriculum includes specific subjects such as: Foreign Policy, Diplomatic Affairs, International Negotiations, International Event Analysis, etc. In addition, students are trained in practical skills such as foreign affairs skills, situation analysis, international event evaluation and information gathering. These skills help students develop critical thinking, the ability to see global issues, and flexible application to practical work.

In the context of deep integration, the International Relations major offers many attractive career opportunities with an increasing demand for human resources. After graduation, students can take on positions such as:

  • External relations specialists at state management agencies, ministries, departments of foreign affairs;
  • Reporter, editor, MC in the field of external communication;
